Where Is Our Nation Headed ?

“Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it
mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.”

HAILE SELASSIE

Somebody please help me to understand why the
'Far Right' and 'Teaparty'
want us to go backwards instead of forward.
Is it Profit? Hate? Ignorance?  All of the above?

Do  these words from Emma Lazarus mean nothing?

"Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
The wretched refuse of you teamming shore.
Send these, the homeless,
tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

 They must have meant something
significant to have been placed with
"Lady Liberty" herself. And what about the
Civil Rights Act of 1964?

Are we going to become a country
which embraces ethnic cleansing?

Didn't our ancestors fight and
die to combat this very activity?

And now I read an article
today by  Southern Beale
discussing the link between the immigration bill and private prisons for profit.

Call it what it is...slavery!

If we don't come together and rise up against this flood of hate, bigotry and injustice, our once great nation will be
no place any of us will want to pledge our allegiance.
In fact we will probably be made to do so by force.
I'm scared for ourfuture and the future generations to come.
I don't know if it's too late, but if we don't at least try,
we can only blame ourselves for allowing the
fascists to overtake everything we hold dear.

  2. Thanks Denise. I just don't understand how anyone would want a world like that just for money or because of someones skin color or faith.
