Az Gov Hires Council in Defense of SB 1070 Lawsuits

Arizona's Governor today announce that she has obtained outside legal representation over the numerous lawsuits regarding SB1070 Governor Brewer stated this afternoon:
"Today I announced the appointment of legal counsel to defend Arizona's immigration laws. Although I am named as a defendant along with the the Arizona Attorney General, he declined to represent the me, thus requiring me to obtain outside counsel to
defend these laws. These costs will be funded through monies raised from a legal defense fund established under A.R.S. § 41-1105 and funds appropriated or allocated for payment of legal fees in accordance with A.R.S. § 35-154."
The Attorney General declined to represent Gov Brewer because the Attorney General does not represent the Governor. He represents the State.

said in a press conference this afternoon that
the Attorney General does not represent the Governor, per state statute. The Governor asked us to represent her as well as the State of Arizona but the Attorney General thought it better that she represent herself because there are 5 lawsuits currently and they are both together  only mentioned in 2 and thus there may be differences in legal strategy lawsuit to lawsuit.
The Office of the Arizona Attorney General will continue to represent the State of Arizona in defense of SB 1070.
