Senator John McCain~Maverick No More

Can Rodney Glassman give the Dems a seat in the Arizona Senate?

Arizona Senator John McCain is in trouble with this years elections and he can feel it. The Maverick no more, he backs away from issues he believes in such as Global Warming and Cap and Trade  so as not to appear  too far Left for his Conservative Colleagues. It's not easy being a moderate conservative these days with the Teaparty Movement in full swing. JD Hayworth would seem to be John McCains strongest foe as he embraces the Teaparty. However, according to Dick Armey, his group FreedomWorks had no plans to get involved in the primary. "J.D. had a fairly short, undistinguished congressional career with virtually no initiative on his part," Armey said. "I just don't see any reason why we should be concerned about that race." And so one may believe that Senator McCain would be a shoe in to retain the seat he has held for four terms. And there are those who think the Senator will have no one significant to run against him from the ADP (Arizona Democratic Party) either.William Dixon, head of the University of Arizona's political science department said he doubted the Democrats would be able to put up an opponent with enough name recognition statewide.  With a silly grin on my face I say "Not so fast" : ). There is a strong candidate in one Rodney Glassman a Tucson city councilman and a U.S. Air Force judge advocate general reserve officer whom I have met on several occasions now and my personal feeling is that he could give Senator McCain a good run for his money.
